Dallas has Texas-sized pickleball. Oasis in Rockwall has 42 dedicated courts and hosts pro events, The Courts of McKinney has 24 courts and the PPA Veolia Texas Open, plus Chicken N Pickle, Sandy Pickle, and a solid free public network.
Dallas runs an outdoor pickleball season most of the year, but the summer months (June through August) regularly push past 100°F, and locals shift to early morning and evening play during peak heat. Spring and fall are excellent. The metro has substantial indoor capacity to handle the heat: The Courts of McKinney has 12 indoor courts, Pickleball Kingdom has 8, Chicken N Pickle in Grand Prairie and Grapevine combine indoor/outdoor courts with food, Sandy Pickle and At Fault offer high-tech indoor experiences. Wind is a real factor in north Texas; the 2026 PPA Texas Open played through 40+ mph gusts. Lightning during storm season requires the same precautions as Houston: stop play, wait 30 minutes after the last clap of thunder before resuming.
Dallas is one of the most developed pickleball markets in the country, with two anchor venues that punch well above what most metros offer. Oasis Pickleball Club in Rockwall is the biggest: 42 dedicated outdoor courts including 8 covered and 2 championship courts, $20/day drop-in, no reservations, and the host of the APA Amateur Open National Championships and the Texas Open. About 30 minutes east of downtown. The Courts of McKinney has 24 courts (12 indoor, 12 outdoor) and hosts the PPA Veolia Texas Open every March, the major pro tour stop in north Texas. Together these two venues account for over 60 dedicated pickleball courts and most of the pro tournament infrastructure in the region.
The free public scene is real too. Dallas Parks operates dedicated outdoor courts at Cole Park (6 in Uptown), Churchill Park (4 in North Dallas), Campbell Green (4), Kiest Park (4 historic), and several more. Samuell Grand Tennis Center near White Rock Lake has 10 dedicated municipal pickleball courts at $3 per 90 minutes. Fretz Tennis & Pickleball Center has 12 dedicated outdoor courts at $5 per session and is home base for the Dallas Pickleball Club. LB Houston Tennis Center adds 8 reservable outdoor courts via the Impact Activities app. The food-and-pickleball wave has hit hard: Chicken N Pickle has locations in Grand Prairie and Grapevine, Sandy Pickle (6 pickleball + 6 sand volleyball at The Village Dallas) brings the social bar concept, and At Fault adds 9 high-tech courts with instant replay and digital scoring.
The pro tournament calendar in Dallas is heavy. The PPA Veolia Texas Open in March at The Courts of McKinney brings the full pro tour through (the 2026 edition saw Anna Leigh Waters win her 42nd career triple crown despite 40 mph wind gusts). MLP Dallas runs the team-league season opener. Oasis hosts the APA Amateur Open National Championships, the Texas Open, and the Metroplex Gold Cup. The year-end United Pickleball Championship is held in Dallas every November, anchoring the amateur season’s national-title chase. For day-to-day play, summer’s the challenge: when outdoor temps push past 100°F, the indoor scene (Preston Playhouse, Pickleball Kingdom, At Fault, Chicken N Pickle, plus rec center indoor courts) carries the load.
