The Edge Pickleball at 75 Eastwood Dr in South Burlington is the marquee venue with 9 dedicated indoor courts (air-conditioned) plus 8 dedicated outdoor courts, fully stocked pro shop, and full fitness amenities at the Twin Oaks complex. Open Play uses 8 courts in a structured format: 2 Darien courts with heavy-duty nets plus 3 Young Callaway East-side courts run 4-on/4-off, while 3 West-side courts are challenge courts. Catamount Pickleball, also in South Burlington, was Vermont’s first dedicated indoor pickleball center - a 15,000 sq ft climate-controlled facility with 7 indoor courts featuring SportMaster Semi-Cushioned Play Surfaces and Brite Court Premium LED Lighting. The free public outdoor scene anchors at Szymanski Park (32 Andrews Ave, South Burlington) with 4 dedicated outdoor courts featuring permanent lines and nets, free public access, and an active community of regulars. Burlington Parks runs pickleball-lined courts at three scenic Lake Champlain-adjacent venues: Leddy Park, Battery Park (overlooking the lake), and Oakledge Park. Wheelock Park in South Burlington has additional shared courts. The suburban scene extends to Williston (4 dedicated outdoor, 15 minutes east) and Essex (6 dedicated outdoor lighted, 15 minutes northeast). The Greater Burlington YMCA runs indoor pickleball for members year-round.

The realities of Vermont weather mean indoor capacity is essential — the outdoor season is essentially limited to May through September with the long winter (October through April) shutting down all outdoor play for 6+ months. That’s why the dedicated indoor footprint at The Edge (9 indoor) and Catamount (7 indoor) is so meaningful for a metro the size of Burlington. Tournament-wise, The Edge runs the most consistent competitive amateur calendar, Catamount hosts indoor tournaments and clinics, the Vermont Pickleball Association coordinates statewide events, and the USA Pickleball Northeast Regional rotates through VT venues annually. For visitors, the Burlington area combines Vermont’s iconic outdoor scenery (Lake Champlain courts, Green Mountain views) with serious dedicated indoor infrastructure - a credible regional pickleball destination paired naturally with Montreal pickleball (about 90 minutes north) and Boston (already a Dinkin city, 3.5 hours south).
